A Hopeful 2011 Year-End Suggestion
In 2010, the SPR Research and Education Foundation marked 20 years of supporting research and education in pediatric radiology. Since those very humble beginnings - with only a $10,000 annual grant budget - the Foundation has now granted over $980,000 to support pediatric radiology's “people and projects.”
In the REF's best years, 18% of us donate; but that means 82% of us did not! And, an unforeseen, unintended and unfortunate consequence of arranging for an online dues payment system has been a reduction in annual giving to the REF.
So, as you make your final, year-end contributions to philanthropies meaningful to you, please consider supporting your colleagues' research and education efforts with a gift at any level. Donate online Here.
To look at the work prior donations have made possible, visit the REF page online. Thank you and happy New Year!

Image Gently and SNM : Go with the Guidelines!
The Alliance for Radiation Safety in Pediatric Imaging and the Society for Nuclear Medicine announce the latest collaborative Image Gently message: Go with the Guidelines!
We encourage you to share the resources developed by the message committee, co-chaired by SPR members Drs. Ted Treves, Michael Gelfand and Meg Parisi, available on the newly-renovated Image gently website with your department and institutional colleagues.
A good place to begin? the full article and the poster with weight-based guidelines for administering radiopharmaceuticals for children for nuclear medicine tests.
Follow the new North American Consensus Guidelines for Pediatric Radiopharmaceutical Administered Doses. Visit the Image Gently Web site today and if you have not done so already, pledge to do your part to child-size the radiation dose used in children's imaging.
In other Image Gently News: Congratulations to the Pause and Pulse: Image Gently in Fluoroscopy team led by Dr. Marta Hernanz-Schulman, for their recognition by Aunt Minnie: Best Philanthropic Campaign in Radiology in 2011.
Congratulations to SPR member, Dr. George Bisset, on his election to the presidency of RSNA. Read more Here.
